Chandeliers are not the only type of crystal light fixtures, but when people think about crystal, a chandelier is often what comes to mind. There are many other types of crystal light fixtures, including traditional ceiling lights, table lamps, wall sconces, and floor lamps. Crystal lights come in a variety of sizes and styles, from antique light fixtures to more modern multicolored designer lights. Crystal light fixtures can be elaborate, with chandelier type designs, or more subtle, like a basic floor lamp that has a crystal base. There are also crystal lights designed entirely for use in the bathroom.

Probably the most popular crystal light fixtures are chandeliers, and there may be as many types of chandeliers as there are kinds of crystal. Famous for their highly polished, hand cut crystal, chandeliers can often evoke the richness of diamonds while adding an enormous amount of light to a room. There are different kinds of chandeliers, some with candelabra type lights, while others offer a beaded, tear drop style with crystal in hues of blue, pink, purple, blue, gold, or black. Installing this type of light fixture can often change the atmosphere of a room, be it a foyer, formal dining area, or living room.

Not all crystal light fixtures are chandeliers, however, and lighting designs that incorporate crystal are often creative in how it is used to showcase light. There are modern type fixtures that use bold, square lines to light up an area, or art deco style lights that can be placed strategically in an area to illuminate a room or hallway. Crystal light fixtures that are shaped like a globe and utilize halogen lights may make for a striking centerpiece in an entryway or dining area. These types of lights may create different lighting effects by combining crystal with brass, silver, gold, or wrought iron. Crystal wall sconces, strategically placed, can create dramatic lighting in a room and floor lamps with crystal pendants may add an elegant touch to a reading corner.

If a homeowner is working with a budget in mind, there are less expensive ways to incorporate crystal lighting in the home. There are crystal pendant lights, traditional floor lamps with fabric shades that feature crystal ornamentation, and mini chandelier table lamps that fit onto most side tables. In recent years, crystal light fixtures have also become popular in the bathroom, lighting up a double sink or vanity area.
